The majority of Americans believe we should have access to abortion, safety nets for the poor, and free state-run health care. They believe that climate change is real. They believe that Donald Trump is dishonest, that the government has an obligation to provide clean water to its citizens, and that higher education should be free.
The problem isn’t that Americans are stupid, it’s that their government is bought and paid for by already-wealthy people who want to be even wealthier, who funnel vast amounts of their money & influence to ensure that one party in particular, and sizable amounts of the other party, will create laws & policies that favor their interests at the expense of the typical American citizen. In short, they conspire to subvert the will of the people.
They’re okay with people suffering, and in some cases dying, so that they can have more money. That’s beyond sick. It’s inhuman.
This isn’t a democracy at all, it’s…uh…what’s the word for it…hold on a second…
