I am so excited to announce the publication of a book I wrote with my incredible partner, Brigette Adair Herron. The Story of the B-52s: Neon Side of Town is the first widely available book about one of the most unique popular bands in American history. We felt a huge responsibility to get this story right, and to make sure it was told the right way, and we absolutely did not miss.

There are many, many people who helped make this book a reality. We are very grateful to them, and owe a debt that will take years to repay. This book also traces the history of Athens, GA back before the band’s beginning, and tells stories of the town’s radical past that have yet to appear in any book about the Athens music scene. The B-52s have a great story, and we have tried to write a book that is the equal to that story.

Scott Hipster Crooney lives in Athens, Georgia, with his partner of 7 weeks, Marie Harvey Oswald. He is the author of “Dear US Government: Letters to the World’s Most Notorious Terror Organiztion”, which is misspelled.
Recent accomplishments include being promoted to Assistant Nightcrew Manager at Dollar General where he has worked for 27 years.
In his spare time he collects coffee grounds and hangs out with Kenny.
